SEGIB participated in the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development
The city of Seville, Spain, hosted this 4-day meeting, which was key for Ibero-American countries.

This Conference was held in a context where the resources to address the challenges of the most vulnerable are at a critical point. The event delivered a clear message: financing is one of the most important aspects to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda.
At this Conference and its various round tables, government authorities, multilateral and civil society organizations, and other stakeholders, debated on the following areas of action:
• National public resources mobilization and alignment
• Mobilizing private companies and finance
• Revitalizing the multilateral trading system and harnessing the potential of science, technology and innovation
• Implementing a development-oriented sovereign debt architecture
• The reform of the international financial architecture and systemic issues

The Seville Platform for Action (SPA) was also launched in the framework of the Conference, and it consisted of the presentation of concrete initiatives to address the achievement of sustainable development. The International Business Forum and the Civil Society Forum were held during these days as well. In addition to the above, the Conference included multiple side events where key topics were tackled through the interventions made by representatives from different countries and areas of expertise.
SEGIB, together with Chile, Morocco, the Dominican Republic, Uruguay, UN Women and UNDP, co-organized the side event South-South and Triangular Cooperation in Ibero-America and Beyond: Shared Experiences for a Shared and Sustainable Future, which main aim was to review the challenges these cooperation modalities face, and to explore opportunities and trends related to resource mobilization.

This activity was led by the Ibero-American Secretary General, Andrés Allamand, and the Secretary for Cooperation, Lorena Larios, who both conveyed the message that South-South and Triangular Cooperation have an enormous value, as they provide countries with the opportunity to mobilize resources with a high return in terms of technical and institutional capacities. They also stated that these modalities create trustworthy relationships, facilitate the participation of new stakeholders and enhance the ownership of sustainable development.
